Module 7

Delicious is a fabulous tool, which I was fortunately introduced to last year as part of a Network of ESL teachers working on The Successful Language Learners (SLL) project. The tool allowed us to easily share great websites in a very simple way. I now have a really valuable collection of useful websites. It also has helped me be much more organised in how I store useful websites. I tend to work regularly on at least 2 different computers and makes it much easier to track my favourites between home and work.
I anyone is interested in becoming part of the SLL Delicious network, let me know and I will add you add you as a contact.
I haven’t yet used this tool with students but imagine that it could be useful at creating a list of websites for a group of students completing a research assignment

  1. Hi Julia,
Unlike you, i hadn't even heard of Delicious before i completed this model, but i am looking forward to giving it a go. After reading your blog i realised that i too work regularly on two different computers and am often emailing things to myself. Using Delicious could save me losing information and keep track of the latest version i have sent myself. Thanks for bringing this to my attention!
I also look forward to creating a list of websites for my students to add to and use while studying.

  2. Julia,
Like yourself and Brigid, I often work on more than one computer so that is a great idea to use delicious to keep track of my favourite and most frequently used websites. Also, creating a list of websites for a research assignment would be a great way to make sure students are on track and researching relevant content. Thanks for the great ideas!!

  3. Hello Julia,
I agree that delicious is a fabulous tool and an excellent one to use in the classroom. It is great to have fantastic websites ready for the learning to engage your students.

It is also a great idea to use it as a social networking site with teachers at your own school or at other schools.

The other great thing that you mentioned about having a delicious acccount is that all your favourites can be saved in one website not just on your own computer. How fantastic is that! Where ever you are you can log onto a computer and your favourite websites are on any computer with internet connection.
    I love this about Delicious!!

  4. Hi Julia,
Delicious appears to be a fantastic tool to help keep myself organised and as fellow teachers we understand that every second is precious. I do have to say that our google account lets us bookmark as well which is an alternative for those who don't wish to open a delicious account, of course if you want to share with others your bookmarks this may not be a feasible option.
